Act 1

It’s a cozy Christmas Eve at Stahlbaum’s house as young Clara and Fritz wait for the guests to arrive. As the party begins a mysterious guest arrives and nearly frightens some of the children but Clara knows he is Godfather Drosselmeyer, the magician. The party continues and all the guests and children enjoy themselves. Drosselmeyer draws everyone’s attention as he presents three life-size dolls. They are the delight of the party, each taking a turn to dance. Drosselmeyer then reveals a special gift for Clara – a wooden Nutcracker that becomes the hit of the party. In a jealous fit, Fritz breaks it. Clara is heartbroken, as Drosselmeyer quickly repairs it. As the evening grows late and the guests leave, the Stahlbaums retire for the night. Clara, worried about her beloved Nutcracker, sneaks back to the tree to check on him, falling asleep with him in her arms. Drosselmeyer emerges and casts a magical spell that takes Clara on an unforgettable journey.

Clara wakes up and her house has been transformed and the toys have come to life. Clara finds herself in the middle of a battle between the mice and toy soldiers lead by her valiant Nutcracker. The Mouse King emerges and a one on one battle ensues with the Nutcracker. After a daring fight, the Nutcracker emerges victorious and conquers the Mouse King. At this very moment, The Nutcracker turns into a Prince and Clara becomes a young lady and is taken on a journey to the Land of Snow, an enchanted forest wonderland where they are welcomed by dancing snowflakes.


Act 2

The Drosselmeyer greets Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they finally arrive in the Kingdom of Sweets, there are delectable treats waiting for them.

In honor of the new guests, a celebration of dances ensues. The magic continues as Clara dances with her Nutcracker prince a grand pas de deux. Soon after, Clara awakens from her dream and to her surprise she is back in her house. Has this wonderful journey been but a dream?
